Crossroads Community Church, located at 104 Heather Road, one block east of 69th Street in Upper Darby, PA
Seeing the wonderful diversity of nations in the Upper Darby area, Crossroads reaches out with friendship to new immigrants – providing free English as a Second Language classes and an International Resource Center that helps those new to the U.S. with free resource referrals and counsel. Not surprisingly, membership rolls read like an atlas of the world, with Crossroads members speaking the languages and sharing the cultures of Cameroon, China, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ghana, Greece, Guyana, Haiti, India, Jamaica, Kenya, Liberia, Malawi, Nigeria, Pakistan, Philippines, Sierra Leone, South Korea, Togo, Trinidad, Uganda and many other countries. This small church, six blocks beyond the border of West Philadelphia, is truly a tapestry of the nations.
Crossroads celebrated their 100-Year Anniversary on November 8, 2008. Since this church’s beginning in 1908, much has changed, but the human need to find a purpose for living has never changed. Crossroads exists “to meet people at the crossroads of life with the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to help one another along the road of spiritual growth.” This church has been serving the community for over 100 years, giving warm encouragement and providing a rich source of spiritual renewal and hope to all who are seeking.
Crossroads Community Church was the subject of a recent article published on the Delaware County News Network website. The article gives a brief look at the history of Crossroads and gives an excellent description of the diversity of the congregation and the wonderful work currently being done by the many ministries supported by the church.
