Updated Plans: Canceling Services for 3/15, 3/22

A Change of Plans

After much prayer, counsel, and research, we have decided to cancel Crossroads Community Church “in person” activities for the next 8 days. That includes worship tomorrow (3/15) and next Sunday (3/22) as well as mid-week activities like Crossroads in the Winter and Sister Circles.  

Near the end of those 8 days we will reevaluate the situation and share an update to you.

Why?

We have been monitoring the decisions of like-minded churches in our area and those in similar situations throughout the country.

We have received additional consultation from medical professionals in our congregation.

Finally, we became aware that Governor Wolf’s instructions yesterday included specific guidance for Delaware County because of increasing cases of coronavirus within DelCo. His recommendation was for non-essential facilities to close (e.g. movie theaters, shopping malls, gyms). 

We certainly do not think that worship and other church activities are “non-essential”. However, there are times when loving our neighbors (always essential) leads us to restrict our freedom to engage the good of others (sacrifice).  

The goal here is slowing the spread of the virus to avoid hospital overwhelm and to protect the most vulnerable. That’s what social distancing is all about. And that’s why we are foregoing the gathering together for a short season.

We are exploring alternatives for sermon broadcasting and offering Bible Study options. Meanwhile, please do worship the Lord with your family at home in the morning. Read the scriptures and sing some songs. Pray for the grace of our Lord to work in our community for His glory and our good.
